Review: Clinique High Impact Lip Colour in Rosette

Hey! We've had such lovely weather recently, I feel quite spoilt actually haha. I thought I'd do a post today, since the lighting's quite good for photos! I've wanted to do this post for a while now, but I've just been lazy (I blame the sun). But yes, I'll get straight into it!

Last month I got my hands on some Clinique goodies, click here to read my Clinique freebies post. I was really excited about these products because they are a bit expensive for a student with no source of income! Today I'm going to review the High Impact Lip Colour with SPF 15 in Rosette, and the Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion (in separate posts). I, being the retard that I am, completely forgot to apply the High Impact Mascara to photograph today...so that'll have to come in another post I'm afraid!

Starting off with the lippie...

I absolutely adore this lipstick, it is truly stunning in colour. Clinique describes it as a 'golden rose', which I think is spot on. It has a satin frost finish, the gold undertones give this lip colour a lot of depth.

Natural light
Flash
The gold shimmer is really subtle, but adds a nice touch. I hate lipsticks that are overly shimmery, I think they just make your lips look greasy... My camera isn't doing the lipstick justice at all, it is a much richer coral shade...it looks a little purple in the first photo!

Natural light
The sun picks up the gold beautifully, ahh...I just love looking at this colour!

Flash
The colour looks really washed out here, maybe I had my camera too close to my hand? haha.. It's really surprising how much the flash can change the colour! Now the lip swatches...

Natural lips

In sunlight
This lipstick gives medium coverage, the colour outcome will differ from the colour in the tube! This makes the lipstick extremely wearable in summer, when full coverage lipsticks may feel a little heavy, and when you want some colour on your lips that sheer lipsticks cannot deliver. I love how the colour catches the light! It's not too obvious in the photo, but the gold shimmer is there. I think it really compliments warmer skin tones.

I really like this lipstick. It has a creamy formula, so it wasn't too drying. A lipstick that doesn't dry is really important to me, since I have horribly chapped lips, which no amount of lip balm/butter/cream can satisfy. I've had this lipstick on for 6 hours now, and it hasn't held up badly! I've been drinking and eating, so the colour has faded, but it is definitely still there. This does make the gold more noticeable, which may be a concern for some, but I quite like it!

After 6 hours
I didn't use a lip pencil or Lipcote, so this truly was a test of the lipstick's staying power. As you can see my lips have dried up a little, but it hasn't started peeling, which is what usually happens when I put on lipstick. The lipstick is forgiving enough to be applied straight from the bullet, so it's a great grab and go product. Oh, and it has SPF 15!

The only bad point I can think of is its price tag, £15 for 3.8g of product. I always feel like I should eat less when wearing expensive lipstick.

Rating: 4.8/5  (the 0.2 is for the price, but wait till I get a job! Haha...)
Repurchase: Yes!

Hope you found this useful! :)
