I was immediately put off by the Acid, as it was way too bright for my liking! The other three were really nice though. I love how the colours of each palette compliments each other, and how there is always one colour which stands out to me the most, which makes the palette. I thought the Storm palette was beautiful, very moody, very Chuui. But since I'm a bit of an eyeshadow newbie, ( I've always just stuck with good old mascara and maybe eyeliner), I didn't really know which colours will work on my skin tone and which one won't. So I decided to leave the buying till another day.
Whilst in Superdrug, I noticed a new brand being sold...and it was non other than the legendary MUA! MUA stands for Makeup Academy and is like the e.l.f. of the UK. I remember the excitement I felt when I first heard about them, so I researched the stores which stocked MUA right away...I couldn't find a store anywhere near me that stocked it. And now, a few months later, it has arrived right at my doorstep! (Not quite, but as good as.) I was ultra happy and bought some little pieces right away.
I picked up a blusher, a lipstick, a nail polish, an eyeshadow and an eyebrow pencil. And since it's MUA, this whole lot cost just £5! A very yummy price. Now I have read reviews on MUA, and I seem to get the same message from all of them. Some products are really good, and others, well, aren't. The eyeshadows for example, some would be really really pigmented, but others would give a very sheer finish. I couldn't even detect some of the eyeshadow swatches on my skin...but that might be because my skin is tanned...
So far I have tried the eyebrow pencil, the lipstick, and the blusher. I personally love the lipstick (Shade 11). It is a really nice soft pink, with a hint of coral thrown in. For something that only cost £1, it is really not bad. It glides on smoothly, and does not show off my chapped lips to the world. It is quite a shiny lip colour, so if you usually wear some lip gloss on top of your lipstick then you could probably skip that step completely. For people who prefer matte finishes, like me, blotting it with some tissue removes some shine. It smells sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. I find the scent quite pleasant.
The blusher I got in shade 3. The other 3 shades available were all too pink to compliment my skin tone (watching Queen daily really is educational! :P ). It's quite nice, but the powder is very loose so you have to be gentle with it. It is a very soft and pretty colour though. :)
The eyebrow pencil actually matched my hair colour perfectly! There wasn't a tester in the shop, but since it's so cheap, I thought why not, and bought it. I am so glad I did. Works perfectly. <3
I might include swatches and photos in my next post...
I also got some hair dye!
Schwarzkopf Vital in 76 Mahogany. I have always wanted mahogany hair...so I am looking forward! It is not like me to not do research before I buy, but this was just so pretty...I hope it gives good results!
So yes that's it for now! Bye byee~
